My son's juvenile Leo, Squirt, is getting friendlier. So when she first took a worm from my son's fingers, he was so excited. Yesterday squirt bite his finger. We thought Squirt got confused and no big deal since it didn't hurt. Tonight though my son was trying it again and Squirt didn't go for the worm, he was definitly going for my son's fingers.

Any advice other than stop hand feeding him.
I really want this to be a fun, friendly and tame Leo for my son.

well if its still a juvenile then maybe you should wait a little bit until it improves its accuracy? That would be my best bet.

I agree with ajveachster. I usually just tong feed mine and even then they sometimes get to crazy with it and bite the tongs. My Leo's are sub-adults too. Other than that, just be happy it doesn't cause as much "damage" as a hamster bite does :p

Do you all believe it is just a maturity and bad aim situation? Will this affect us taming him. I guess I am asking if you think this could be a aggressive act.
Or is she just mixed up?

I would not use hand feeding as a means of taming a leo. Put their food in a dish and let them eat as they will.

Taming should be done with gentle voice and laying your hand in the enclosure and letting them get used to you. Eventually they will walk over your fingers to get a feel for you and to see if you can be trusted. Then you can slowly lift your hand with them on it and get them to sit there for a while. Once they see you are OK and you get their trust, repeat this over and over and they tame up very nicely.

Our female is smart, and thinks that if she bites the spoon of tweezers, worms will come falling out.

When mine is hungry he will stare at the rock I usually put mealworms on, willing them to come crawling out to feed him.
I know not to put my hand in there then; he might decide five giant wriggly mealies have rained down from Heaven for him. :tongue3:

I think mine is convinced that my fingers are just gigantic juicy worms. He normally doesn't pay attention to them, but once, I put my hand in there and wiggled my fingers just to see, and he definitely went into hungry hunter mode. I promptly removed my hand.
