So today I opened my phoenix worm container...

...and TWO flies flew out. It was seriously the scariest thing ever, I really didn't think that phoenix worms matured so quickly.

Anyways, I was so startled that I threw the cup up, which of course caused a bit of a mess:main_rolleyes:

Has this ever happened to anyone? It was just SO unexpected! I've used phoenix worms for awhile now, and this has NEVER ever happened to me!

Yeah, I'm thinking that the heat caused them to pupate quicker than usual; I've been using my space heater for the last week, so the ambient temps have been around 78ish...which isn't tooo much warmer than usual, but who knows...bugs are kinda crazy:D

I worry about this happening with every single worm feeder I feed.

I worry about opening my wax worm container to find moths.
I worried about this when I ordered phoenix worms.
I HATE finding meal worm beetles.
And whenever I receive an order of super worms, I FREAK OUT before I even open the box that there will be beetles wandering around in the box.

well it happens, however they are indeed SCARY AS HELL, And yes for anyone else when you open a lid and they come out (if) It will 100% Look like a wasp and you will wanna run for your life and or Toss the cup and run for your life....However i been told they have No mouths, No biting. And over all not to bad just get over there looks (That's a good thing) and they die in about 5 days. lets face it the only defense they have is to look Scary..And it works because they had to go with the Wasp look...

...see, the moths don't really scare me, and the beetles look harmless enough, but these fly monsters are definitely not friendly looking! But, I looked up all their info in the midst of my horrific encounter, and yes, they're perfectly harmless:)

Thanks Mflow, my phoenix worms are officially living in my bathroom for now on!
