We purchased this gecko not too long ago from JC-Geckos. It was purchased as a female 'Blanco het DB', and its clutchmate was a solid red eyed DB. We have heard a mix of opinions on what it is, and to me, is also starting to look male. It has a deformed pupil, eclipse eye? Was hoping someone could help me with a morph confirmation, as well as a sex confirmation. Pics weren't easy but here is what I have.

The eye pictured shows the eye with the most static pupil, the other eye has the same but less vivid.

I'm not really any help, but what's the difference between a DB and Blanco? They're both white, right?
Is it the eyes? Sorry for being of no help.

From what I understand Diablo Blancos have all red eyes from the eclipse trait.

Plain 'Blanco' is a term I hadn't heard used before, and is the reason I made this thread.

So a Blazing Blizzard Eclipse? But not a DB because it is not a solid red eye?

A Blazing Blizzard Eclipse would be a Diablo Blanco. So either his is a Diablo Blanco (low grade, since quite yellowish), since it has something like an incomplete snake eye, or it's just a Blazing Blizzard het Eclipse, what it was sold for. Maybe the person who sold it can say something?

Blazing Blizzard het Eclipses, like Ambers, usually have normal eyes and pupils.

Whatever it is, Ricky has a real Diablo Blanco now, and when this little boy here is big, he can pair him with Venus and make lots of Diablo Blancos :main_yes:

Yes, he will be going with Venus (or snowflake as my lady calls her) as soon as they each pass 50g and one year.

Looking forward to seeing their babies sooo much, as well as the babies produced between my Raptor and the Raptor we just picked up from chrissy (ruby we call her)

Let me set the record straight here....

Blizzards can have "eclipse like" eyes without being eclipse. Often times they have "snake eyes" without the eclipse gene.

"Another trait which seems to randomly pop up with Blizzards is Snake Eyes or solid eyes. As of right now, there is nothing genetic behind the Snake Eyes or Eclipse Eyes in Blizzards. Most people have them randomly pop up. "

So your blanco het DB is probably as the breeder said it was. Might also be helpful to know what the parents are. If one was eclipse and the other did not have the eclipse gene well then it would definitely have to be het eclipse.

Also it still looks female to me!

Didn't mean to post just that.. but
Michelle, do you think it is impossible for a blazing blizzard to have an incomplete eclipse, from the eclipse gene?
Would you consider such a gecko a DB?

Thanks for all the input. Male/female still seems up in the air. It was bought as a female but goes back and forth to my eyes. Were hoping male now, but will be happy either way. Time will tell.

A better picture of its *area* would help :) I see the pores(but that dosnt mean its male) is it starting to get anything like buldges? I was trying to see if I could see any but the finger shadow is blocking it :p
