I recently adopted a little luscistic (not sure if that's how you spell it but oh well) leopard gecko who is blind. the only question i have is this.. How many dusted crickets a day do i feed and how much water?v(i have a tiny syringe i have been using but i want to make sure i have been giving enough or if i have been giving too much. I have so far given .3) This Gecko is completely dependent on me for hydration and feeding. Zero is about 3-4 inches long and not fat at all ,but also not too thin. any advice with feeding is greatly appreciated!P.S. for a blind baby it sure trusts me and has never cried since i brought it home^^ p.s.s. Zero is very active so not in danger.

Keep all the "furniture" in the enclosure in the same place so it gets to know what's where. Keep a bowl of water in the cage. The gecko may surprise you by being able to find the water and drink. Feed it until it's not interested in eating. It will likely be different amounts on different days.

The gecko is semi force fed so that advice is somewhat not helpful about the feeding..however the comment on the decor was helpful as i already thought of it..

Welcome to the forum! Is the goal to move away from force feeding? I wonder if you could cut open the food so that Zero can smell what is around and get hungry that way. Obviously hunting will still be an issue but at least it would indicate that it's time to eat by smell

thank you for the advice. Zero does somewhat hunt now by sound and he is pretty good. I'm guessing zero was weak and malnourished until brought home and force fed for a few days. I kinda figured things out all my own. Forums are just not that reliable for me.

We'd love for you to stick around and share some more of your experience with your gecko here. After all, a community is only what its members are! :)

Reptiles, especially lizards have an extra high sensory organ in their mouth that allows them to process odors we can't even pick up. Don't sell this little guy short. Let him start relying on other senses and he may surprise you. My Diablo female is nearly blind and she's the smallest female, but she rules the tank and feeds herself just fine.
