When I keep my blizzards at 88-90 they are a nice white but if I bump the heat to 92-95 they go to a very dark purple. Is there a reason why they get darker instead of lighter, because when I am transporting them or working on the shelves and have the mats unplugged they also turn deep purple when the temps get below 88 for a while.

Yeah, Blizzards will get darker when they stress a bit but don't worry about it. It is Normal.

I am not worried, just curious why if I am keeping them at 92 or above, that they are deep purple, but if kept at 88-90 they are white. I do know that they are prone to colour changes due to stress.

Hmmmm....I have a Snow Diablo that I keep around 93 and she is super bright white. Of course, a deep purple leo would be cool, so I envy your "dilemma"! Please keep us posted on this....

All leopard geckos will change color due to temp and environmental surroundings... It does not really have much to do with stress at all... They are not mood rings... LOL... Why is it getting darker in higher temps??? Because that is just what your gecko does... Some will get lighter and some will get darker... However when kept at higher temps they will be brighter for the most part... I dont think it has been studies as to why exactly this happens in leopard geckos so this is all speculation at this point...

getting lighter in hot conditions would make sense because lighter colors have a higher albedo (albedo is term geographers use to describe reflectivity). the lighter colors would reflect more heat waves instead of absorbing them. thus cooling them down. they would turn darker if they are cold because they would be absorbing more heat instead of reflecting it. i think this is why green anoles in my area vary from bright green to dark brown.

as for turning darker in the warmer conditions in your tank... i dont have a clue lol.
