Blood in Stool

At the beginning of the week I posted pix of my new 2 yo female gecko, Kobe, whom I picked up on Sunday. Ran a stool analysis - oxyurids (pinsworms) so I dewormed her once yesterday with her first dose of strongid. All this week she has been eating crix daily (great appetite). I fed her one superworm yesterday & crix and 2 superworms & crix the day before. Today when I cleaned out her stool, I noticed blood in it.

I don't think that this would be caused by the dewormer but maybe by the superworms. I will withhold superworms for now and see how her stool looks tomorrow. Any thoughts?

By the way, I am having loads of fun with this young one. She is so active and nosey! I just changed towelling in her tank and she is investigating every square inch of it in addition to the thermometer and hygrometer that I just stuck to the back of her tank. She also enjoys watching the cats move around the room.

Unless the pinworm infection is serious, they usually don't cause bloody stools. Hookworms will cause blood, but the good news is that Panacur is the treatment for both pinworms and hookworms.

The pinworm burden wasn't evident until the fecal analysis which leads me to believe that the blood was caused by ingesting the superworms (1st time she has even had them).
