One of my floor mates is telling me that blood's are really aggressive. Is this true because I've always been led to believe the opposite. Does anyone keep them and have any further input? I'm still relatively new to snakes so pardon my noobness.

Bloods in my opinion are just big Ball Pythons. But they should definitely be treated with more respect then say a Cornsnake, as their bites can definitely cause damage.

Every Blood I've encountered has had really big attitudes, so I guess it varies from one snake to the next.

So we have some mixed opinions... hmmm... I was always under the impression that the were docile enough, but my floor mate says all the ones he has seen are nasty little biters. We're going to the hamburg show this weekend so we'll ask around and see if we can get any more opinions.

ive worked with all they types of bloods, and right now im raising a pair of black bloods (my favorite) nigel and K are both right, they're over grown ball pythons. bloods by nature are typicly a little on the agreesive side, but if you take care of them the right way and spend alot of time with them, than just like a retic, they'll calm down even as hatchlings. you just have to be willing to spend time and have patiance with them. if they try to bite you dont put them down, just keep holding them cause they will learn "hey if i bite this guy hes ganna put me down". get what i mean?

good luck.

ps. i didnt see you at the show. did you end up getting one?

I have seen lots of Bloods, I have friend who have them, they have tame ones, they have agressive ones, I just say It depends on the animal, my friend have gived a lot of manipulating to a male of him, and never calm down, he has others that tell me they're more tame thats his Ball Pythons.

Sure they're famous for being agressive, but I think because they was a lot of WC Bloods some years ago, now they're more CB, I dont say all CB are tame, but by now there's more and more tame Bloods, they're awesome animals and very intelligent.

Hope I helped.

I used to work with them and not one of them could you let your guard down with. The ones i worked with were monsters though and there were alot of situations that made me think twice of changing his water bowl at the time you know. But i honestly belive that its the lack of time spent with the animal that causes it to be that way.

I do have to agree with what Jorge Nevin and Nigel had to say. It depend on the individual snake . but they have gotten a bad rep. because of their past most captives were WC. CB that are regularly handled appropriately from a young age will be very tame.

The only difference ive found is that blood have to have more support when your holding them, the minute they feel insacure they strike, thats just what ive found working with my bloods
