Blue or red bulb for observation?

I like to have the nightglo or red bulbs on the tanks for observation and a little ambient heat at night. I have been using the red, but have a blue moonlight in use because I had it. What is everyone's preference? I have read that the leos can't see the red and so it doesn't disturb them at night. Does the blue moonlight bulb cause a problem at night? Will an infrared red bulb do what I need as far as supplying some heat and red light for night time observation? I noticed the wattages on the infrared bulbs are higher and would produce more heat, since they are red would they not disturb the leo at night? There is a cost difference in the bulbs; the infrared are cheaper, the red 25watt observation bulbs are $10 and the infrared heat bulbs are $6 to $7.

Just curious...hee hee hee

And its pretty bright too. Its one of those spiral energy saving bulbs. I have bought party balbs before that weren't very bright.

Now that I have had my gecko's for a little while I do not spend as much time sitting in my office room (where most of the reptiles are setup) at night in the dark watching them.

I used to keep a red light on at night which was cool to watch them in action. The only gripe about red lights (never tried blue or moonlight) is that all the gecko's are red which really takes a lot of the beauty in their coloring away.

I have used both blue and red lights in my tanks before. When I used the red party bulbs from Home Depot, they were very active at night. When I used the blue bulbs they weren't active as much.

My crestie vivarium currently uses the $4 party bulb from Home Depot and they are always out at night.

I have gotten a two pack of the red light bulbs at Big Lots before, they're cheaper and brighter.....
