Blue poop?

One of my new hatchlings (Eclipse; about a month old) is making blue or turquoise poop:

Is this normal?? It's eating crickets and mealworms, and doing fine; good body weight, agility, and everything. Nice solid poop, and lots of it :main_evilgrin: Just the urine part looks bluish :main_huh:. It's kept on moist paper towels, not on colored sand or so. It hasn't been in contact with any purchased geckos; it has been in its 10g glass tank since fresh out off the egg, so it cannot have parasites. It gets Repashy dust on its feeders.

I've never seen this before. Anybody else observed that?

That is really odd... wish I had an explanation for it but I don't. Hopefully a more experienced keeper will chime in.

It's possible that could be from the Repashy's ingredients passing thru the body prior to being absorbed. I've see some colors on the paper towel when dropping in a superworm.

Now I've officially seen red, white and blue poop, lol.

but on a serious note...most of it looks good, but I think it definitly would be a good idea to email A. Repashy.

Keep us posted on what he says.

is there any chance, whilkst hatching in the incubator, it swallowed some incubation masterial that has just passed through the system?

Could it be Repashy powder that got wet and just happened to be next to the poop? Try add a drop of water with the Repashy, it'll turn bluish green. (I thought my leos were eating molding crickets once...)

I don't think that's possible. I use perlite as incubation material, and it's way too big for a hatchling to swallow; it would suffocate or die of compaction right away. Besides, most of the time I watch my hatchlings crawl out of the egg and take them out of the incubator immediately, so it wouldn't have had any time to swallow perlite...

That's an excellent idea, but if we look closely, we can see that the whole "white" part of the poop is blue, not just the paper towel under it, so it's definitely coming blue out of the gecko.

That's super cool that you signed up. I've been kicking the idea around but haven't ever had a problem with the suppliment. I was on tehre reading a bit today and found it very informative.

It's more like a Scooby Poo mystery :p Well, whatever it was (might have been mold, but I don't think so, since I clean out the baby cages daily), my gecko has not done it again, and has grown up to be a nice strong juvenile.
