Blue spots above eyes?

Nearly every Leopard gecko I see has this pretty trait. Why do they tend to get blue pigmentation above the eyes? Is it a certain trait that appears only with certain morphs? I would love to know.

Lots of babies have that beautiful blue 'eyeshadow', but unfortunately it usually doesn't carry through to adulthood.

Unfortunately Marcia is right. My wife loved how bright some of our SS would have their eye shadow on. Some may retain a little but never as bright or pronounced as when they are young.

Thank you for the replies. Does anyone know why they get that blue pigmentation specifically above the eyelids?

my year old gecko still has blue eyeshadow. my picture
i think it is there because the skin is thin there and you see through it

not to be a stick in the mud, but that coloration is due to the thin skin of the eyelid showing some of the eyeball structure.

Wow. I never knew that. So the eyeball structure is showed as a blue/green "eyeshadow" above the eyelids?
