Hi together!

Maybe some of you remember this tangerine baby from am older thread:
http://geckoforums.net/attachment.php?attachmentid=3685&d=1168648391

Well, this little guy really confuses me: He hatched out with very deep tangerine, than he lost most of his colour rapidely within his first weeks. Now, as I checked my holdbacks from ’06 again, I recognized some bluish pigments on his head and on his body-sides. After a very rainy week we had some luck yesterday when the sun came out at the morning, so we put the geckos on our table and made some photographs (click on the photos to see more details) :

If you look closely, you will notice a difference between the first and the second light body stripe.

My first thought was that it just came from the yellow turning over the lavender bands (like the green shades in some geckos). Or maybe just some thin skin with some dark blood shining through..
But when I watched closely with a magnifier, I saw that these points are completely different from the normal lavender pigments. Also, it seems that the colour is laying above the normal lavender pattern..

This is one of his clutchmates: The head looks like “powdered” with some blue pigment. It lays above the lavender pattern, so its definitely no lavender!!

You also see on this guy the difference between his first lavender band , and his second bluish band.

After this discovery I’ve checked the other clutchmates, too – these are now in shedding, so I can't say anything yet, but I will try to make pics of them soon, and I wonder if they show the same pattern..

I’m curious of your opinion..

Kind greetings, rebecca

the windy city gecko is working with something very similar. You might want to contact them. They are a member here, or you could go to their website (link is at the banner on top of this page) and email them from there.

And im sure RT would be intrested in this, considering his blue project didnt work out so well.

I was thinking the same thing. That leo has more blue than any other I have seen. Mine seemed to be turning blueish, then went to lavender, and now it is mostly gone. Hopefully yours keeps that. Can't wait to see pics in a couple months.

The lavender is something that shows up and is more commonly seen in pastels. It will fade away slowly by the time they reach around 25 grams. I'll have some more answers in the next few months as babies start to hatch and I see the outcome.
