OK so I want to get into breeding and I have made my mind on what I want to start working with. My problem is i want to do bold stripe mack snow but I can't find any stripes without a bunch of extra hets. So I would rather not breed babies that have 10 hets to them so how should I go about starting out on this? Should I just go for it with the extra hets or do I hold out and see if I can find a bold stripe without a bunch of crap going on with it?

^^^^^^ x 1000000 I try to keep my lines clean so I know (as much as I can) what I am working with. Don't settle, if you're not 100% into what your buying then you won't be 100% into what your breeding.

Yeah that's what I was thinking. I don't want to produce offspring with unknown genetics. If I'm going to start breeding I want my lines to be as clean as possible.

I can appreciate you want your lines to be clean and I agree to hold out for what you want. I just want to distinguish between a situation where the geckos being bred have known hets, in contrast to a situation where the geckos' genetics are unknown. If the hets or possible hets are known, test breeding can happen and it can be determined exactly what you have (and I understand if you don't want to have to deal with that), but I wouldn't consider that to be a situation of "unknown genetics". The actual "unknown genetics" situation is where the possible hets are unknown.

Thanks for clearing that up for me. lol I'm still very new to all of this. I don't really want to deal with test breeding. I just want nice clean blood lines.
