I disagree with that, sure the forums are great for learning things, but a book like Ron Tremper's The Herpteculture of Leopard Geckos, gives a great knowledge base for coming into the forums. Reading a book like that, helps eliminate the noobish questions and helps generate better discussions.ReptileMan27 said:I personally wouldnt waste your money on books, everything you want to know and then some you can find here, other forums, and sites. Forums are like giant books only better
Hands on is the best learning, but books like Ron Tremper's give a great foundation of knowledge. I'm sure you could ask just about anyone who has read it, and they will recommend it in a heartbeat.ReptileMan27 said:I think I probly said that wrong, im not saying books arent good or that you cant learn from them but that IME, I have bought several books on anything from scorpions to various herps and after spending god knows how much on them, I find myself learning more for free from forums and just hands on experience.

Your right, their is alot of conflicting info with leos and herps in general, books only have one opinion, the authors and thats not always right:main_thumbsup:Lyndsey said:Id disagree with that too
People have sooo many confliciting opinions that it gets confusing. Books have one viewpoint that is easier to follow
When I first started here, yes I got good info...but it was from 8 different people who had different advice. I was confused more than I was helped
It all depends on the author and reviews on the book. With the RT book, it is worth the $40, just about all of the information is dead on too.ReptileMan27 said:Your right, their is alot of conflicting info with leos and herps in general, books only have one opinion, the authors and thats not always right:main_thumbsup:
