Ok...not just a question about leos but like all reptiles in general...Can reptiles get bored? I mean i sit there and watch them in their tanks just laying there seeming soooo bored. Can they feel boredom? or do they not have the brain capacity for things like that?

LOL! I dont think leos or any other reptile has a complex enough brain to feel boredom :D

I know what you mean though, it really does seem like they would be terminally borde in there, esp. if they are in the tank alone.
That's one reason why I like to see them enjoy chassing the crix around and pouncing on them. It probably gives them the most excitement they will get all day!!

Most animals simply want to be alive and without pain.

Almost any animal that we love, even if it's a pet insect, is capable of us anthromorphizing it to have feelings as if we were in its place.

I'm sure your leo is paradise :)

Since leops sleep most of the day, I doubt if they are truly bored.

Yeah, I think that's right. It seems like they can sleep with their eyes open, conserving energy during the day.

When they LOOK bored
it certainly doesn't make me feel too great..........
So I try to do what I can to make the tanks a bit more interesting for them.
I change and add different things when I do my complete tank cleanings.
I make things to cause them to at least show curiosity and get out and explore the tank.
Things they have to climb to get around to the food, the poop station, etc. .........they have to go through things like tunnels,
climb over things like rocks and burl wood chunks....
I build ledges and walkways above the floor so to have options of ways to get around.......
Not sure if all this changes that SLEEPING look of boredom but at least they have more to do if they care to.
...........isn't that a way to help human boredom?
take care. HJ

I'm sure I look bored when I'm sitting on the beach sipping on a cold drink, but I assure you, I'm not :D I sooo envy the lizard brain...don't worry Justan, they're just hanging out/relaxing, thinking about worms :D

I know that animals get bored. My Horse sure does, as do my dogs. I think my Bearded dragon does, and maybe my geckos. for the lizards, at least, I don't think it is quite the same as it is for us. At least I hope not.
