any ideas why the bottom of my egg would be denting. i put a wet paper towel over it today they were laid two days ago. i also candled and saw no veins so i dont think it is fertile anyways but id like to know why the denting is happening because i have more eggs coming soon

they are also sitting in perlite

More info would help giving an opinion.

Did you observe a breeding? How many times? Are the other eggs from the same pair? Same male? Did you use the .8 X 1 ratio for water? Container lid have holes or no holes? In or out of an incubator? Hatch temp.? Hatching room temp? If using a incubator, did you ever manually adjust it at any time, after entering the eggs?...............take care. HJ

How moist is your perlite? The eggs might be dehydrated. Try using the rule of thumb... 1 part perlite by weight to .8 parts water.

It can take a few days for the 'bulls eye' to show up on the egg to be able to candle it as fertile... wait it out a few days... make sure the eggs get the proper amount of moisture, and that you have the correct temps... things should work themselves out. :) good luck!

If it is the bottom of the egg denting......I have had it happen before and 100% of the time it was not enough moisture. Lay a damp paper towel over it for a couple of days.
