I'd give it a shot if I knew more....Adult or baby gecko? Had he been eating from it? Is he still eating but just not from the bowl?
Deep Bowl or shallow dish? If it is deep is there any step up to it or resting place for him to see in it without hanging on the side of it? Is he or did he just do a shed? Have you changed things around lately.......anything more will help give you an opinion......take care. HJ

Sounds like he just "likes the action." Some of mine go through this too. .....If you keep a carrot round in the bowl for the worms to stay fit and active, he will have more interest in them.....But if you don't want the play time with him by dropping worms....he'll find the bowl of worms again when his stomach starts growling........take care. Given a Choice

At his age, he may just not be hungry. Older ones can go for days without eating.

I agree with this but you did say he was eating the ones you drop in front of him (while the bowl has 2 or 3 day old worms in it) When they have a choice of food and are not starving for food they definitely sense and choose what does them the most good.
I've thrown large worms that have been without food for a few days along with smaller worms that have just be pulled off a carrot round......
The gecko more times that not will choose the smaller but more active food supply. Partly because of the motion, but a lot of the times just after sniffing the larger one and refusing to eat it....then smacks the smaller one.

Once they eat wax worms and know what they are.........they will choose a healthy one over a meal worm......but not always if it has been in a feeder station with out food.........That's why if you feed from bowls you should treat the worms the same as the fresh ones you are putting in every so many days.
Or put fresh in daily if you want them to eat from it..................OR deprive them of food and see what they do when the belly rumbles..(.only suggested if doing a test.)......
My gecko prey bowls contain a carrot round and sometimes a small piece of orange peel all the time it has worms in it. I sometimes replace the worms food supply in between replacing fresh worms. I used to replace daily with fresh worms but not since I started this method............I also have built up resting places for the geckos, to look down into the bowls. Photo:
take care.... HJ

Can your leos see the mealies in the bowl?

If not, you may have better luck with a clear glass one, or a petri dish if you can find one, is ideal.

When the mealies stop moving, your leo will loose interest also.
