Breeder recordkeeping software

Am looking for some reptile breeder software that works great for leo's... anything I find on the internet seems to be quite old and is either no longer available or comes by snail mail. Does anyone have software they currently use and like?

I've never used one (as I don't breed), but I would assume Excel would work just fine :main_thumbsup:

So I tried the Degei software, but stops at 5 animals and appears the cost to extend the license to more animals is over $1000 ! Not very affordable for the normal person. Tried the Metzal software and the version that downloads is expired and don't see anywhere to get newer version.

May have no choice but to create one from scratch with Access or Filemaker.

Excel does work great, but iHerp is awesome :main_thumbsup: Plus, if your computer crashes, all of your info is on the internet. Of course, notebooks are good too

I own and use Degei and there is a version for about $30 or so that will do everything you need. The version you looked at was the highest one and IMO you won't ever need that one.

My wife is a CPA and has lots of software but I think she transfers it all useing Quick books she has some awsome software. I really dont know how to use it, So i just record every thing in a note book then she goes through weekly and records it all Thank god for my partner ay, and its nice to keep records of every single thing I firmly beleive that, it helps with the breeding and hatch dates and weights and everything, and it helps to keep all sales in there and every single receipt from things that you buy for the geckos for tax purposes its a good right off, as long as you make a profit you only have two years of not making a profit or else its turned into a hobby and cant be claimed. I'm not sure what happens if you go two years with no profit and then make a profit after those two years if you can again start claiming it as a buisiness, But I'm pretty sure she uses quick books for all this stuff I could be wrong but thats what I think she said, I'm realy not that smart on computers but I do what I can and I'm getting better. So haveing her really helps me out but You should check into quick books I think its also what banks use for record keeping, Hope that helps ya.

iherp is a fabulous, free resource!

Degei is also great! Damon is offering the full regular version for free now, too.

Yup, yup.
I would say download a program (I don't have a suggestion other than excel) or just use a notepad like Jess said

I've used "Herp Care Software" in the past, and its served my needs well. Plenty of features although it's developed by one person so there can sometimes be a glitch or two. I believe his/her new release works better.
