I have had most of my breeding and care questions for leopard geckos answered. Now I want to name my eventual small business.

Is the name Triskel Leopard Geckos taken? (Pronounced try-skel.) If you want to know the inspiration for the name, google triskelion.

What are your opinions on the name?

Be warned, if this is an original idea, and someone tries to copy it before I get the chance to start my business, I will sue.

Joe Capone V2.0: The Leopard Gecko Years

It begins!

Although I kind of wish you hadn't written something so over the top absurd. I've had this flu bug for the last few days and I've got a fever and a headache. You caused me to laugh so hard that I went into a coughing fit and came out of it with my pulse throbbing behind my eyeballs. "if this is an original idea," indeed. This is better than the kind of satirical performance art done by flash mobs. Very droll.

Here's a bit of free advice on the topic of self promotion, marketing and reputation. The herpetocultural industry is not that big. People remember other people who make jackasses out of themselves by threatening to sue over a hypothetical infringement of an unregistered trademark. Remember them with a mixture of pity and derision mostly.

I should probably quiet down now. Wouldn't want to be taken to court and have to answer to a libel suit just for pointing out what a ridiculous mockery of a legitimate business operation you've got going.

I'm sorry my amusing comment about sueing made you feel worse, I'm sick too at the moment. But please don't be so harsh. I'm only 19, old enough to own a business and have a job but still pretty much a teenager. I'll come up with another name if you think it's so bad...

What's he going to sue you for? Definition of character?

I meant I would sue. For copyright, plagiarism, whatever you would call it. And after the rather harsh comment before yours, if you like the name, now I'm afraid of using it because of quoted comment above this one. I'm only 19 for God's sake!

You can't sue for something if you didn't copyright it first.

But anyway, I would take this a lot slower than you seem to be. I'm 19 also, and if I decided to start a reptile business, I would start off with it just being a hobby at first, and once people know your name, start thinking of all the "business" aspects then.

That's just what I think anyway. :I

Thats it Im going to sue Kelli for HISS.. i had the Idea 30 years ago for this name.

while im at it ill sue apple for the ipad.
Gm for the corvette design.

Come on guy..
You come in here a week ago.. knowing basically NOTHING about leos now your you still know basically nothing. then you say a name of a business that you think is going to be profitable. which if you had done a search it has been covered many times for the first few years YOUR LUCKY to break even. You make up some know that no one on here would even think about using.(if its hard to pronounce/spell/familiar people wont remember it). Then threaten to sue if people use it. Then you complain about people being to harsh.

1. You HAVE TO HAVE IT COPY RIGHTED before you could even THINK about suing someone for that.

2. With this post alone you have lost any business i would have ever given you.

3. if i were you i would NOT think about starting a business.. i would keep it a hobby and actually have people like you THEN if your still into Leos after a couple years.. you may have a decent enough collection to start a business and break even while you own it.

4. Im pretty sure there are less than 10 people in the world that are established enough to make a living solely on breeding leopard geckos.

For the love of god.

your 19 you need to go to college and get an education before you try to start a business.

Do a Google search for the definition of copy right and plagiarism please

Lol.. even then i dont think so..

Most people that make money breeding do a LARGE variety of things.. and doing high end leos it would take a few years just to work off the initial cost of the breeders..

The more expensive your leos are the less buyers you have

*deathly quiet* Everyone who has insulted me has violated one of this forums' rules. And attacking me in another thread of mine and then thanking the person who did it, that is very bad form and puts you at a level even more immature then me. I will take the punishment for defending myself this way, but will you? Just so you know, im faster, I have a form of Autism. This limits both my experience in the world and my educational opportunities. Also my social skills, so if I offended you gravely with a half joke/half naive comment...I can only say I'm sorry. I have even edited the post to make it less of a social faux pas. Another thing is, I am a FEMALE. I would LOVE to go to college, but a prejudiced school system has yanked away my opportunity to do so at this moment. As far as I know, there is no law against turning a hobby into a business. And one of the reasons I am doing it is so I can be a zookeeper one day, something like a breeding business is a requirement for the job. The college problem is being taken care of. If you all had simply nicely told me the faults of my first post in this thread, I would have no need whatsoever to be upset. And telling me to get a reality check, other poster? Please remember all breeders have to start somewhere. I did in fact check on google to whoever told me to do that to see if the name was taken, and found nothing.

How can you expect people to nicely tell you things when in the first post you threaten a lawsiut?

- i told you to check google for the definition of plagiarism and copyright not if the name was taken.

- and the fact you are blaming on you only being 19 is crap.. there are a couple breeders on here that are less than 14.

- and your still trying to blame everyone else for your fault..

if your original post would have been now.. you would have had none of these comments..

My suggestion to you is to keep doing research.. buy a few leos after you get used to caring for them and you have everything needed to breed #1 thing being knowledge. THEN start with a breeding a couple leos. keeping some for yourself. going to shows maybe a few breeders need some extra stock you can sell to them. get familiar with the way things work.

THEN if you are still interested in a business.. (prepared to spend 20-50 hours a week depending on the amount of leos you have)make sure you have all permits required by the state and start a small business . and by then you may (if you havent pissed many other people off) have a decent reputation and be able to sell enough geckos to break even for the next few years. and eventually you will be able to make a small profit.

if your not willing to do this then dont expect to just magically (no pun intended) have a reputable and profitable business.

if you want to just make money maybe you should just get a normal job

If your ultimate goal is to be a zookeeper, you should definitely try volunteering at an animal shelter. You will get a lot of experience that a zoo is looking for, especially if you volunteer at a large scale shelter.

Just take everything slow and if people say things you don't like, smile and ignore it. A big part of having a business breeding animals is having a good reputation for quality animals and of course, customer service.

Are we role playing now? I didn't even get to roll initiative, but no worries. I'm casting fireball. Trolls are notoriously weak against fire (and acid) damage.

I have a form of Autism. This limits both my experience in the world and my educational opportunities. ... Another thing is, I am a FEMALE. I would LOVE to go to college, but a prejudiced school system has yanked away my opportunity to do so at this moment.

Women?! In a college?! Outrageous! Why, everyone knows their heads are smaller than man-heads, leaving them with less room in their skull for brain matter! They couldn't possibly...

Wait... fifty seven percent of college graduates are women, and female students are excelling in all subjects, at all levels of education? Well hell. There goes that idea. Pretty soon all I'm going to have left to be uniquely proud of as a man is the way I can pee my name in the snow. I wholeheartedly support this, each to the limit of their own abilities and all that.

In college, not in college... it's got nothing to do with what's in your pants.

And one of the reasons I am doing it is so I can be a zookeeper one day, something like a breeding business is a requirement for the job.

No, it's not.

I check for traps! Has anyone seen my graph paper?

It seems you're looking for approval from a community of experienced leopard gecko keepers. You ask for opinions but it wasn't what you wanted to hear. Now you're in a position where you feel you have to defend yourself. If you are sincere in wanting to learn, you would read and listen a LOT and say little. Yes, you do need a reality check.

If you are sincere in wanting to learn, you would read and listen a LOT and say little.

Read my post in your other thread. This is really the only solution you have. You simply cannot carry on like you have and expect positive results. I'm sorry that YOU THINK your disability is getting in the way here but you Definitely have control over how much you post as opposed to how much you read, research, listen. Here are a couple quotes I found. And when we say "listen", its referring to studying in general. Reading what people are saying is the best example unless you have local seminars and stuff you can attend to actually listen to someone talking.

A good listener is not only popular, but he learns while he listens.

The less you say, the more you don't have to apologize.
This is how I felt about your "apology thread". A. You didn't commit murder or anything. And if you continue to carry on, there will just be a bunch more apologies.

The person who knows everything has a lot to learn.
As much as you think you know, there will ALWAYS be more to learn.

A wise old owl sat on an oak; The more he saw the less he spoke; The less he spoke the more he heard; Why aren't we like that wise old bird?
I like this one :)
