Well, we lost one of our beautiful HG Tangs we recieved as an anniversary gift from Dan last year. She was egg bound I believe and their was nothing we could do about it. I pulled out her tub yesterday and she was just laying there. I was really upset. I had to let Matt take care of her because it bothered me to stay in the room. She was so sweet and beautiful and so special since she was a gift from our good friend. RIP Maia.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. It deffinately is very difficult to know that it was us that bred her so in a way it feels like our faults. But sometimes we just have to step back and realize the reality of breeding geckos and know that it may happen eventually. :( The happiness of hatching babies and making people happy with our animals outweighs the negative things. So that makes me happy to know that.

I am so sorry for your loss and what you had to feel. I haven't lost any of my adult geckos yet, but if I ever did I would be torn to pieces. I am glad you feel a little better about what happened and hope the days get better.

I am so very sorry for your loss

It's never easy to lose a beloved pet and that is what these guys are to us-whether we breed them or not

I am so terribly sorry to hear about this, makes me want to cry

But you're right, things like this are bound to happen at some point or another, and we have to accept the pros and cons that come with the hobby. I am sorry that this happened now and to such a beloved girl.
RIP Maia

That's not necessarily true. Females can form and lay eggs even if you don't breed them and there's nothing you can do about it. I have a problematic girl that doesn't weigh nearly as much as she should. I decided I would never breed her, and guess what? She went and layed eggs on her own.

It's impossible to keep a gecko away from all risks. I wouldn't beat myself about it.

I'm sorry that you lost your precious girl.
