Okay, story behind why I need to know more about calcium deficiencies is because I got a load of geckos and their rack for cheap but I am seeing some health concerns. One being what I think is calcium deficiency.

1. If a baby leo gecko has it, can it be cured by feeding them calcium?

2. Does it only happen in the front legs or can it happen in the back legs and only the back legs?

3. Well what does it look like? Other than walking on their front legs weird, could it be were only the joint isn't stable and doesn't support the gecko's weight?

4. What are some symptoms or early sighs of calcium deficiencies?

Metabolic Bone Disease can start with symptoms like shaking or unsteady looking legs while walking and then progress to swollen joints and limbs to bent, rubbery looking limbs, jaw, and spine.

The damage can't be completely reversed but it can be stopped. Babies can have amazing recoveries. Provide them with plenty of Calcium. Your local herp vet can also prescribe liquid Calcium drops and show you how to administer them. I would recommend this if you think the MBD is pretty advanced (as in the gecko is obviously impaired).

Good luck with them, it sounds like they'll have a better home with you!
