Calcium

Evenin' all,

Just wondering how often everyone changes their calcium dish? I've been cleaning and refilling every 2 days but just wondered what the norm is?

Cheers!

I only use calcium in the cage with hatchlings and I just leave it until they finish it (and by the time they finish it they're usually big enough that they don't need it in the cage anymore). I dust feeders every other feeding with Repashy Calcium Plus and that's sufficient.

So I should just stick to the dusting? I currently dust with nutribal and have a separate, constant supply of calcidust. She drives me mad with the calcium 'cause she jumps in it and leaves a trail all over the viv lol.

There has been some concern recently about geckos getting over supplemented and there appear to be some danger about geckos getting too much calcium and vitamin D3. I've been just dusting since 2009 and it seems to work fine. As mentioned before, some of the hatchlings start to show early signs of MBD when they're very young even with the dusting and they seem to benefit from calcium in the cage. I'm also considering providing extra calcium to my egg-laying females.
