Can a Leo have a heart attack?

I am really confused.. this morning before going to work I was going through the reptile tanks cleaning poop, putting in food, and misting the moist hides.

I sprayed some water into the humid hide in the tank where the male blizzard (or at least looks like a blizzard) is housed. I heard a loud scream/hiss coming from inside it and it turned out the blizzard was in the hide. I didn't think much about it because I have a couple other leo's that don't like getting sprayed and scream like that before.

I opened up the hide to check he was ok and other than a mean look he looked fine. So I went about my business, finished up with the rest of the tanks and got ready for work.

Jen walked by and asked what the noise was all about and I told her that I sprayed the gecko, then she walked over to the tank to take a look at him and told me to take a look cause he is limp and his tongue was sticking out.

So I walked over and sure enough he was dead. I dont get it ... he was perfectly fine the night before and 10 minutes before that. I checked inside his mouth to see if maybe he swallowed some of the bed-a-beast I had in there (which i never had a problem with before) and his mouth was clean.

So I have no idea what happened. All the other gecko's are in similar setups and perfectly fine. This is really confusing and frustrating as it's only been 2 days since I got him. Is it possible he had a heard attack from getting scared when I sprayed him?

Thank you. Yeah, I have no idea, I haven't had a chance to think about it or try to look it up at work since I am at work. I can deal with the fact that he died, it's the 'how' (or not knowing) he died that is really bothering me.

I'm sorry for your loss; I have no idea on the cause of death, but that sure sounds like a possibility to me...

I'm so sorry for the loss of your beautiful baby :(. If i were u id ask some of the more experienced breeders like marcia and kelli and mel & keith and see what they have to say. They might have known this to happen b4. Good luck in trying to find out why he died.

Thanks for the comments. I think I pretty much have to accept that this falls into the 'WTF?' category.

From here on though, to be on the safe side, I think I will check the hide first before spraying water in there.

Real bummer too as I was excited to finally get another pet that is a male (im not a breeder) since my home is at the moment an almost all female cast with the wife, cats, and reptiles (the exception being the one male bearded dragon)

There is a guy on my reef board that needs to get rid of a male I can PM him and see if he is serious about it.
