Geckos can hear, yes. Does constant noise bother them? Maybe at first. Do they adjust and stay healthy? Yes. I knew someone who had a gecko that was around loud music nearly 24/7, and the gecko was as healthy as a horse. You'd even see it sleeping all day long, just like any other gecko, without being irritated by all of the noise.

and it's constant I'm assuming? I've never used a dimmer switch, but that can't be very good..

as far as the pitch.. I am not sure, they could mistake it for another hatchling or something maybe, I don't know. If the noise is constant, though, I can assure you that they will get used to it.

I know I've heard stories about people making a loud noise and their Leo dropping it's tail. I'm not sure how sensitive they are to high pitch noises. I think our geckos are all fairly desensitized to noise. We leave a tv on in the gecko room most of the time and the ferret and dogs play in there as well. That type of noise doesn't seem to bother them.

Yes, sudden, loud noises are bad, I have heard similar stories.

Our geckos are also most def. desensitized to noise, as there's always a TV on in the living room, right next to the wall sharing the gecko room; and I agree, that type of noise seems just fine.

I've never heard them complain, so I think it'll be ok. ;) I don't know if there's any research done on the sound range of leopardgeckos...

mines has almost jumped out my hands a few times when someone not in the room has made a noise or said something and given the gecko a fright

I would say the ya have similar hearing responses as we do. TV's constant noises will just be accepted as part of there environment. The sudden noises are to be more concerned I would think. As far as pitch well I would think that because there ears are less developed than humans there frequencies range might be smaller leaning more towards the deeper pitches. However they may be more towards the higher cause of crix catching. I would say weigh him every week and if you notice a drop defiantly change it out.

Mine can hear, they just always ignore what I'm telling them to do...

Lol :laugh4:

Our geckos are in the middle of our crazy lives and it doesn't seem to bother them a bit. We have 4 boys ages 7 and under, very noisy. The pet store we got them from was saying how good of a job we must be doing with them as they bred for us. The owners of the store have had "several" they have wanted to breed and never would. I made a joke that they weren't supplying the right romantic ambiance :main_laugh:

As far as high pitched noises though, I don't know. Maybe it would bother me more than them!
