I need to deworm a couple of my leopard geckos and I herd you can use horse dewormer for geckos to deworm them. I couldnt find any horse dewormer but I did find dog dewormer, would dog dewormer work for leopard geckos and if so how much do I use?

Thanks TY

That definitely does not sound like a good idea in either case....horse dewormer is strong stuff and I'd be worried it would not only kill the worms, but the geckos too. It is also focused on a different kind of worms I believe...same goes for dog. Just doesn't sound right.

Why not take them to the vet and get some reptile dewormer?

The suspension is made for an animal that is 60 POUNDS rather than 60 grams. Even the smallest syringe you could find, wouldn't be small enough for the dose you need to give. "Dewormers" are not universal...there are LOTS of different kinds to treat lots of different parasites.

Different dewormers treat different parasites. One dewormer might do more harm than good, and another might do the opposite. First, you should find out what kind of parasite infection you are dealing with by taking a fecal sample to your vet...they can tell you where to go from there.

Fenbendazole is the de-wormer being referred to, typically called Panacur. It is used for a wide range of animals, but it still needs to be prepared by a vet for the weight of the gecko.

Yes, it should be measured out by pounds, and also from my vet he said we can use anthalban, which is used throughout dogs and cats, and small animals. It's liquid.
