can it be too big

the vivarium that is im only buying one hatchling to begin with then when i can tell what sex i will get another. but my tank is pretty damn big can this be a problem for such a young gecko?. when i ordered my gecko the seller said that because its young i sould avoid handeling it until its older! how old!!!???? any tips on how to help it settle in tomorrow would be greatly apperciated!

I'm not really sure...but I wouldn't think the size should be a problem

I'm also not sure how old they have to be to be handled. I do know that young leos are jumpy and can be a little aggressive. If you handle it, make sure you don't hold it up high in case it decides to take a flying leap lol

What size tank is it that would help alot. Only problem I would see is it may have a hard time finding its food in such a large tank. A 3-4" leo in a 30-50gal. might not find its mealworm bowl, but more so if you feed crickets then that could be a major problem.

I don't think a young leo needs anything more than a 10 gal.

It can be too big. Leos don't like many open spaces. That's why they spend most of their time in a hide. I think 20 gal long is a perfect size

You defently dont want to go way to big, makes for harder heating and alot of wasted space. A little to big is fine aslong as you have enough hides and cover..

One thing you can do is divide it with cardboard or a plexiglass piece cut to fit. Get the idea right? Then as s/he grows just remove it and fill tank with hides and stuff.
