Can you put a UTH directly onto a ceramic tile?

I recently built a platform where I put a large cave humid hide. The platform consists of a ceramic tile with wooden dowels on each corner to hold it up. I want to place a UTH onto this tile to create a warm platform and a warm humid hide for my geckos to go into. Would it be ok to place a UTH on the tile? Or would it get too hot?

It would not be something i would do but yes you can just hook it up to a thermostat with a probe. It would be better if you put the heat mat under your tank.

For reference, I have one of these http://www.amazon.com/Zoo-Reptile-Shelter-Cave-Small/dp/B000BNYDNG (a large one) on top of the platform. It has a thick bottom, then a layer of sphagnum moss on the bottom to keep the hide humid, so I don't think the geckos being burned would be a problem. I just want to make sure it's safe and that the tile won't crack or anything.

The gecko can get burned doing this but most likly it well go to another hide if it gets to hot. Personly I would put it under the cage. If you feed crickets this could be a problem. The tile won't crack I think I use paper towl if you want PM Acpart She has about 40 geckos I think she uses tile too.

i would not put the heating element where your gecko could come in direct contact with it. is there any way you could put it under the tile?

I was going to put it under the tile, on top of which would be the humid hide. I just want to know if it would be too hot and crack the tile. Also if it'd be ok because it'd be directly under the tile as opposed to under the tank's glass then repti carpet/tile. It'd be missing the extra layer of the tank glass, would that be ok?
