Our pug's name is Otis and he was born 12/24/97 :D He grew up from 9 weeks old with a 168 pound neopolitan mastiff and a 178lb tosa inu. Therefore he thinks every big dog is his buddy and fears no dog. He loves cats like his mastiff buddies were train to do, but oddly is scared of anything without fur and retreats to his bed.

Sorry, it's a little OT, but Paul, I LOVE Tosas! How was the temperament??

He was a natural born killer if you came in my house without me ;) He was a big mush otherwise.

I love the Huge rare breeds because they have personality and , well are man size. The downside to them is they take a strong willed person to keep them inline and alot of people don't fit that role well.

I rescue most of my dogs and he was a rescue from an abusive home.

Wow. Sounds like a very cool dog. I love the giant breeds as well. ;) I currently have 4 Great Danes in my house. :main_rolleyes:

I've always loved the Tosa Inus, but have heard not-so-great things about their temperaments. Many people will tell you that Pit Bulls are evil, as well, though. :main_rolleyes: My Danes are also natural born killers if you come into the house without the 'say so', but lap dogs to all, otherwise! I definitely wouldn't call the 'protective trait' a bad thing. I never feel uncomfortable home alone! ;) A lot of the larger dogs have been bred to be protective, so you have to be prepared for that.

I agree, training is a HUGE thing with giant breed dogs! People can't believe that I can walk 190 and a 160 pound dogs together by myself! lol But, to them, I am God and they don't know they're stronger. We'll keep it that way!

Thanks for the input!
