Care sheet?

Can anyone point me in the right direction to a good care sheet for corns? I did some googling and all before we got him, I just want to double check to make sure the info I got and was give was right.

Girl at the pet store who apparently keeps pythons claimed that they only really need heat for 2 days after feeding. And that keeping them at around 79-85ish is ok. (roughly room temp.) I dunno if that sounds right.

She also said that the aspen bits or whatever it is called is a good substrate for them. Wouldn't this cause impactation since it's loose?

Have yet to get him to eat yet, but we're trying to work on that. Currently offering him crickets, but he shows no interest. Then again, it's only been a week.

I just want to make sure we're taking care of him properly. Thanks all!

I keep a King but it is almost the same as keeping a corn aside from a few things.

IMO, you should always offer heat, not cut it short. It takes them a couple days to digest the food so turning heat off after that would probably not result in death but I think it would be a healthier animal overall if you leave the heat on all the time.

I keep my King on Aspen and it is fine. As long as you don't feed them on it. I put my king in a tub when I feed, so every time I reach my hand in to hold him he doesn't think it's food.

Corns should NEVER be fed crickets. They aren't able to digest their exoskeleton. She should be feeding it really small pinkies.

Alright, got that all straightened out. Got him a new heatpad and also got a pinkie. Little bugger ate it right there in the pet store. lol. Luckily the owner is cool with that stuff so we just kind of sat back and watched. So set up is good to go now. :main_thumbsup:

You might want to pick up a copy of Kathy Love's book. It is a very valuable resource.
