It varies on the subspecies, Jungles are about 5-7 feet generally, Irian Jayas get between 5-6 feet usually but most people say 7 feet isn't impossible. But Coastals are big guns, which get around 7-9 feet with some fat females getting to 10-12 feet. Hope that helps.

My girl is just under 3 years old and is almost 6 feet long, so 5-7 feet is probably a safe assumption. ;)

For your first snake I would definitely not recommend a Carpet, babies tend to be nippy but grow out of it.

Um... you may want to read what Nigel posted over again.
They can really be quite the handful.

Personally I wouldn't recommend a Cali. King as babies tend to be nippy, I mean they make good pets but they do get very a Strong Feeding Response.

I would disagree with carpets not being a good starter snake. Yes some babies are nippy but that can be said for any snake. I've had lots of carpets over the years and only a very few had a bad attitude and they usually grow out of it with a few weeks of handling. They're small as babies anyway so it's not going to hurt if they bite.

They are great for a display animal with them being out in the open a lot of the time, not much of a problem feeder, and grow to a managable size. They can get 7-8 feet or even a little bigger but they are thinner than the big snakes making them much easier to handle. A 7 foot carpet coiled up doesnt take up that much space so a 3' to 4' cage will work great for them.

I dont know how accurate the feeding in the same enclosure is. When I worked at the big pet store they gave that reason as to why we had to take everything out of it's cage to feed. I have fed every snake I ever owned in it's enclosure and that never made them aggressive.

Jungles can varie in sizes. Seeing that you have Palmerston, Cowley, Atherton Jungles ect.
Palmerstone, Krauss and Cowley Jungles get from 4-6ft. Palmerstone, Krauss and Cowley Jungles are your B&G Jungles.
Jualtenns are about the same size, yet they are the B&W Jungles.

Athertons can get bigger, 5-7ft. They aren't as bright in yellow as the B&G. They are more of a Creamy yellow as babies, yet others can be full yellow.

Any Carpet would be perfect for a first snake.
