so were moving and we were putting in carpet. We got this brown carpet and we had quite a bit left over. I thought it would look nice in one of my "pet" leos cages. My mom said like house carpeting has chemicals in it and stuff. Would this carpet be ok to use in a cage? Thanks,

Justan

Ehh I wouldn't use house carpet. It's kind of thick and I don't think it would be easy to clean. About the chemicals i'm not positive on but it's possible.

Id wash it thoroughly in a tub or something then dry it well. It should be fine to use.

How thick is the carpet?

I would be afraid of it acting as a insulator and the heat from the UTH
may be diminished.

One other thing, carpet is usually treated with chemicals to prevent staining and such.
Just be careful.

Its not super thick, not sure exactly how thick but not to thick. If theres risk of chemicals i probably wont use it. Just thought itd be a nice idea.

I know that when I go to the carpet store, the samples always stink to
high heaven with a chemical odor.

Maybe you can wash it out!?

If it's thick and there's a lot of loops, his claws/toes could get stuck in it too.
