I am just making an educated observation but usually in nature, most catapillers are brightly colored to advertise the fact they may not be the healthiest thing to eat......I would not risk it.....plus, who knows what toxic residue they have ingested with all the spraying that municipalities do.

To feed or not to feed

thats why i found them orginally is bait lol

Too many (non Fisherman) people spray
the trees, to take a chance as prey with the geckos.
Interesting piece about the worms......:main_yes:
They drop to the ground, bury, do a life cycle
bit and in the spring will change to a
humming bird moth.
First time I saw one I thought it was a
baby hummer.
Rarely see them, somewhat
nocturnal and grey-ish color.
Take care. HJ

Those types of caterpillar are not suitable as leopard gecko food. Besides the risk of parasites, they are indeed toxic, and will make the gecko sick, if not kill it. Almost all US species of moth and butterfly have some sort of chemical defense in their larval phase, with a few exceptions(horn worms, for example) and that particular species is indeed quite toxic.

I'm gonna try some out next time I do so. But seriously, I wonder if a fish steals your bait if he'll die later on? Perfect justice for the bastard who stole my bait! Noone likes a thief!
