About your leo:
- Female
- Exact age unknown 1-2 years, 65 g as of this morning
- I've had her about 2-3 months,
-She's a pet-store lizard (don't usually buy pet store animals, but we clicked)
A) Health/History
- She's handled daily, and minus the eye issues she's never had a problem.
B) Fecals
-Her poop is always large, brown with white urates and *smells* but other than that looks good (could be I'm used to bird poop). She goes 1-2 times a day.
C) Problem
-She had a really rough shed lately (unusual, but the A/C is being turned on so its probably getting really dry) and ended up with a piece of shed sort of covering her eyes and nose which she got full of dirt and got dirt in her eyes. I gently pulled the shed off of her and tried to flush her eyes with water. and even though they look clear of debris she's squinting, blinking, and licking her eyes alot or keeping them shut. No discharge etc although they look a bit foggy (they always have a little bit and she never had the problem before--there's a question of if she has vision problems). She will open them up more and more lately but is really struggling to hunt and missing a lot (she was never a good hunter, but its gotten worse).
Housing:
A) Enclosure: exo-terra 'faunarium'
- Size 18 x 12 x 6 1/2
- Plastic
- Coconut husk 'plantation soil' (having problems keeping this moist with 1x week misting, even 2-3x week when she's shedding)
- two, her warm hide is the exo-terra fake rock cave, the cool hide is a half-log
B) Heating
- 1 UTH, Small desert wave by exo-terra, on one half of the bottom
- Cage temps are unknown, room temperature (72 or so on cool side) hot side i'd guess based on her body warmth is 90-95 or more.
- To guage temps I'm relying on handling her--I know the human body runs at like 98 F so if she feels warm to me I know her temperature is adequate if not a bit high
-No
C) Cage mates
-No
Describe Diet:
A) Typical diet
- She gets fed daily, as much as she wants (can be as little as four--can be up to 10 or more). Her base diet is crickets, supplemented with either butterworms (usually 3 at a time), silks (2 or so) and hornworms (1) weekly. Bought some phoenix worms at the expo well, going to try and get her to eat those. She doesn't like mealworms or waxworms.
- She is handfed or I use tweezers
B) Supplements (describe how often)
-Exo-terra calcium powder and multivitamin--she has a calcium dish in her cage at all times (with a tiny sprinkle of the multivitamin)
-Her crickets are gutloaded with rep-cal cricket food and fluker's cricket quencher with added calcium
She'll be headed in to my exotic vet in a week (as soon as I get paid) for her yearly check-up and to get her eyes looked at.
