Changing sleeping time

I just got my first leopard gecko =) He is very young but I am not sure how young. (how young is 4 inches?) I was wondering if I could make it dark during the day and put a light on at night, so maybe I can see him more active. If it is a bad idea I surely won't do it, I just want to know if anyone else tried this or does do it.

Personally I don't think it's a good idea because it does mess with their natural rhythms. However, many leos area up and about beginning in the early evening. If you're at school or at work during the day, after dinner will be the perfect time to see it out and about. Yours is very young and the young ones are kind of programmed to stay hidden for protection. It will start coming out more as it gets older.

bad idea. plus they generally have it hardwired into their own system. you could become a night owl and observe it at night!
