That's really cool! It's so good for kids that otherwise wouldn't get exposure to reptiles to learn about them and learn to respect and appreciate them! :main_yes:
I did the same thing! I brought reptiles into a 4th grade classroom at my school. I brought my sci. teachers leos(mine were sooooooooo not tame enough, didnt want to chance it) a couple months ago then recently brought my BTS to visit. The kids DID go insane. They loved it!
Also, on a sidenote, my 7yr old cuzin saw my baby leos and said "Oh my gosh are those POISONOUS?" I'm like "OMG not u too! Ahhgggg :main_rolleyes:." He has held my science teachers leos before and hasent asked that and now here he asks it when he sees my BABIES! Oi :main_rolleyes:. LOL
We think Leopard Gex are probably are among the best classroom reptiles available.
Their setup and care needs are basic and easily understood. Meanwhile, they present a basis for learning about reptiles, biology, metabolism, thermo regulation, and even reproduction in reptiles if chosen.
With their docile and curious nature, they are great for handling as well. (as long as supervision and proper procedures are given)
And generally, people aren't as afraid to touch a leo as they would be of even the calmest of snakes... (i blame the media for that one.. )
Plus they look COOL!
many of our donations, adoptions, and even sales are to schools, and we couldn't be more happy to do so..
