It's no big deal or anything as I was 80% sure that Tiamat was healthy, but she is my first leo and she was a pet store buy so I wanted to make sure she was healthy. Especially since I'd like to introduce her and Mandarin and perhaps have them live in the same tank.

But I took her to the vet today (who doesn't normally work with herps but she seemed knowlegable. She said she had owned a lot of reptiles, particularly leos, growing up. She even asked me about my temps and substrate which I took as a good sign.) She said she appeared very healthy and she was nice and active. Tiamat even tried to climb up into my hair and tried to hide under my bandana. lol

I couldn't get Tiamat to poo though so I couldn't bring in a fecal sample for them to test for bacteria or parasites, but the vet said she highly doubted that she had anything like that. I just want to be 100% sure before I put the two together.

On top of that, Mandarin got her new repti-shelter today! She's just loving it!

Oh yeah. I'll be bringing in a sample as soon as Tiamat produces it. I'm paranoid like that too. lol

And thank you. I love her coloring too.

Aww. lol

I was trying to get a better pic of her. She was just about to climb out in this one, but before her head was tucked back a little so that she was just barely peeking out. It was so cute!

And I know what you mean. I've been feeling 'the urge' again too. I really want a hypo-tang giant. <3 I need a job though.

Okay. So I know I said that Tiamat was pretty much given a clean bill of health but today I noticed something weird. I need reassurance.

Tiamat has become more difficult to feed and today was no different. I think she's only eaten once in the passed week. Well, today I noticed that her tummy looked kinda distended. She reminded me of those pictures I've seen of gravid females. Well I tried to take a look at her tummy (she wasn't a very willing participant) and it was VERY pink. And she had what looked like a darker pink dot in the middle of it. Is she perhaps ovulating? Is that why she won't eat?

I'm at my witt's end here. I started swearing at her today because I'm so tired of trying to feed an unreceptive gecko. I just weighed her and she's 60g so she has gained weight somehow. Does a healthy gecko gain weight even if they're not eating much? Can they gain weight due to being gravid/ovulating? She's also been a bit more active than usual i.e. hiding out in her moist hide as opposed to her cool hide all the time, taking short trips around the tank during the day, etc.

On top of that it looks like my superworms aren't eating either. I have plenty of food in there for them (orange peel, potatoe slices and Fluker's Gutload). Are they perhaps not eating because the orange peel and potatoe slices are cold when I first put them in there? I store them in the fridge. I had mold growing on the food and it looked like it hadn't even been touched.

PLEASE HELP. :(

Wow, that is one SWEET Repti-shelter!!!

From what you describe, it does sound like she is ovulating, and so it's definitely very normal for her appetite to decrease during that time. It is also very normal for them to be a little more restless, as you also described. I think that since she is gaining weight, you really shouldn't have anything to worry about. I know how frustrating it can be, hang in there girl

I am sorry, but I can't help with the super worm issue.. but I am sure someone will come along that can :)
