Cleaning tubs with ammonia

I am soaking one of my tubs and a hide with ammonia. Didn't really measure it out but probably under measured the ammonia if anything. After soaking (20-30 minutes good?) I assume a few scrubs with dish soap and a few thorough rinses with HOT water... How long should I wait before putting my geckos back in? Is it safe to dry and put them right back in as long as I rinse it very thoroughly? Or do I have to wait awhile? Never cleaned them with ammonia before, so any help is appreciated!

Thanks, that is what I figured. Thought I had read somewhere about leaving it to air out for 24 hours, but thought that may have been a bit of an overkill if rinsed properly after.

Are you trying to kill yourself?:worried: Don't ever mix ammonia with any kind of soap.
If you suspect parasites 40 minutes if not 30 minutes is fine.

Well, it's been soaking well over an hour now. I would rinse the $#!^ out of it before washing with antibacterial soap (As far as I know will not cause any chemical reactions being bleach free). My question is how long to wait to put the gecko back in the tub after it's cleaned out and dried.

There is no definate answer. I would let it vent for at least 15 minutes. Just sniff it very well:)

All is done now. Rinsed the ammonia water pretty well with water as hot as the tub would get, then washed it best I could with dish soap, rinsed it a few times with hottest water I could get over it, dried it out with a towel, and now it's back in the rack.
