Clicking noise

I took Presley out to check a few things in the tank a few minutes ago and as I was holding him, I heard him make a "clicking" type noise in his throat. He did it a few times and then ran to the center of my back where I couldn't get to him (haha). I've owned a few leos since I was 17...and never had one make that noise before. Is that a sign of annoyance? I didn't wake him up...he was just sitting next to his calcium dish staring at me. He hates me, huh? :(

LOL! sounds like he was a little annoyed.
Was he also waving his tail?

When they do that, it's time to leave them alone, or risk getting a
bite.
He may have picked up a scent he didnt like too :main_yes:

No, no tail waving. As soon as I could reach him in the middle of my back, I put him back in his tank...where he promptly gave me a dirty look then booked it into his warm hide haha

Hmmm... I had just put germ-x on my hands. Maybe it was that?

I've taken the clicking sound as Leos being spooked. If they are mad or irritated they will give you the infamous hiss/squeal.

I hope I didnt scare him. I put my hand in front of him and he walked into it before I picked him up. Maybe I moved my hand too fast to my shoulder? I dont know what might have spooked him

eh i hear it all the time from my geckos, anytime that i do something in their tubs or anything they get annoyed with i guess is the best way to put it.

it's pretty much the gecko say " hey leave me a lone."

Well thats good that its not a spooked noise. I guess he just wasnt in the mood to be handled right then. Thanks :)

Maybe he got the scent of your cat and freaked!?

That could be. I'll make sure to listen for it in case he does it again. Maybe he's just not the type of leo thats big on being handled

Was your gecko in a position that he could have felt uncomfortable? Stripes sort of make a 'gurgle' when he cannot climb to a certain place.

Well, talk about the wrong scent, one time when cleaning the
tanks, I got the moist hides for my 2 males mixed up.
It took me a long time to figure out why they were slinking
around slowly, waving their tail! LOL!! :main_laugh:

I had to wash them with hot water and soap to get the scent
out.

Ok, so I went into the Leo room and removed some geckos from their containers to see what made them click....

It is definately not being spooked like I orginally thought and is definatley a sign of being annoyed and wanting to be left alone. Just like Ryan "hauseremt" described. :main_thumbsup:
