Who has seen it?

I saw it at a 7:30 screening last night. I was a little disappointed. Trust me I liked the movie, the no name actors and the camera angle (similar to Blair Witch). But it left me wanting questions answered. I'll wait for others to reply before I get more specific.

If you haven't seen, remember the producer is the same guy (J.J. Abrams) who does Lost, so everything means something. Pay attention to the movie and not the guy talking or sneezing.

P.S. If you get motion sickness easily you may want to take medication. :main_thumbsup:

I wouldn't call it creepy. But I found myself some what wanting to physically react the way the actors were. Like when the statue of liberty's head comes flying down the street I wanted to jump out of the way. I guess that's because of the way the movie was shot.

Over all I would give the movie 3 out of 5 stars. Some will love it, others will hate it. Me, I'm in the middle.

I think you get 3-4 good shots of it, but not until the end really.

Here is some ones rendition of what it looks like (the creature is not hairy in the movie it's just how it was sketched and it has a greenish/tan color): Cloverfield

I saw the movie on Friday, and I am really disappointed with it. I will probably give it a 1.5 out of 5 stars. Maybe I didn't pay enough attention like you said, but it was really hard to focus with that type of filming. The movie is probably 75% Love story and 25% about the monster(s), which made me even more disappointed with it. It left you with NO answers at the end, you don't know what the monster is, where it came from, did we kill it, etc.....etc...

I almost threw up during it from motion sickness (I didn't even get to eat the $500 bag of popcorn I bought because I felt so sick to my stomach). Definitely take some Dramamine (sp?) or something if you can before going.

I agree with you that people are either going to love it or hate it. If you are going to see it only for the monster then you will be totally disappointed.

I am looking forward to other people's reviews!

I liked it. Yeah, I have tons of questions, but I think that was the point. It was definately not traditional, which was great. I tend to find myself knowing pretty much what is going to happen during movies, but in this one I didn't always.

Definately motion sickness warning, that made it hard for someone I was with to focus, and definately detracts from the movie.

Personally I thought it was brilliant. You never see movies from that angle, and that's what I loved about it... it was a movie about normal people stuck in the middle of a monster attack, and how they would react to it.
I think lots of people expected a typical monster movie, and thus didn't like the non-explanation aspect of the film. But if you think about it, the characters have absolutely no idea what's going on either. It really puts you right in their shoes, makes you feel like a part of the little group, just trying to survive. The audience is as confused as they are.

I think there's way too many movies nowadays where everything gets explained in uber detail and it's just so blah blah blah blah boring. When I went to see this movie I went in with almost zero expectations, and just enjoyed seeing people reacting realistically to a non-realistic situation (but I'm a total psych nerd so I like that kind of stuff, bwaha).

Don't worry all, I'm sure JJ Abrams will have some way to reveal lots more information to us about Clovie, where he came from, what he was doing in NY, etc :)

Ya, I would want to hold on to a camcorder the whole time while being attached by monsters...LOL... :main_huh:

Sorry, not picking on you, just couldn't help myself. I hear what you are saying though.

There are a lot of online clues, J.J. is becoming famous for that. I wasn't that into the movie to go fishing for clues. So I'm a little upset with being left with a lot of questions. Hopefully they get answered on the DVD or some thing.

Yeah, that was like, groundbreaking. You felt like you were there. I thought it was good, especially considering it was only 83 minutes long.

This is how I always view movies. Sure there are some movies I flat out don't want to see, but for the most part I'm content watching anything. I plan to just sit down with an open mind, and decide after what I think of it. I never base movies on reviews.

I am anxious to see this myself, although I'll wait for the dvd. I can't justify going to the movies anymore, not when I can own the movie for the cost of going to the theater. There are some movies that are a must see and can't wait...but I honestly only make it to the movies 1-2 times a year.

I dunno, I think the big screen was a big part of this one. Not sure how it will be on DVD. Plus I have $3.50 Matinees up here :D

Yeah I think I will wait for this one, I just heard too many things that don't merit me seeing it in theatres. Growing up watching Godzilla I kinda have an idea of standards for giant monster flicks, and from what I hear this movie doesn't really have them. It may be groundbreaking and stuff but IMO I just don't like the Blair Witch esque vomit enducing style of filming.

IM GOING TO SEE IT AGAIN THIS WEEKEND!!!! i loved this movie. and JJ abrims really knows how to keep you in it. im a big fan of lost as well. i know of one clue.... at the clip of the 2 sitting in the fairest wheel, if you look in the background, you can see something falling from the sky and crashing into the ocean. i was not disapointed in ANY WAY by this movie. mainly because it was exactly what i expected from abrims. there is also very reliable roomers are 2 diff sequals. one is that the theory of there must have been more then just one person holding a camara. so it would be the same night, but shot from a diff perspective. the other one i heard was a "documentry" being done on the millitary durring that night.

all i can say is it was the kind of movie ive been hopeing for, for a long time

Lol! yeah, that's pretty true, I don't know how many of us would be able to keep a hold of a camera while running for our lives :D

Reminds me of an IMDB thread I saw where some posed the question of "who else wants a camera that can last for 7 hours on one battery and still works great after being dropped, stepped on, banged around, beat-up, etc?"

If you actually want to see a Monster Movie, then you will be highly disappointed. Otherwise, except for the motion sickness part, the movie was OK at best, just my opinion.
