Gecko #1 of the season hatched for me at 44 days today day 47 its clutchmates
Egg collapsed I've been at work got home and found it that way after close inspection
I could not find a slit from the gecko trying to hatch I pipped and waited after some time about an hour
No movement so I opend the egg to find a fully developed baby dead just wondering why this happened
And if there is a reason what I can do to prevent it next time

Some babies are just not meant to survive. A baby that can't independently hatch out of its egg is probably too weak to survive or has defects that you may not be able to see. I just had my first leo egg do the same thing and when I opened it there was a formed but dead baby inside. It's a different matter when this happens with all the eggs; then maybe there's a problem. I'm sorry about the one that didn't make it, but congratulations on the one that did.

Thanks yeah its been a hard year I am having all sorts of problems. The first clutch was fertil the next two have not been
I don't know what's wrong other than I bred her with a first time male but I placed her back in for a day so I hope I will get
At least one more clutch that's viable

Many of us have had a lot of infertile eggs and a slow start. I don't know why.

Must agree...it has been a rough start for a lot of breeders. Just hang in there and hopefully you will have plenty of babies running around :)

Here too.
Not a hatch yet.:furious3:
18 eggs, 13 nos, 5 still possible.
3 females appear to have quit laying.
4 females still refuse to breed.
2 females in limbo, for first clutch.
Thinking about raising bantam chickens.:main_huh:
Have a chicken incubator already.:main_huh:
Take care. :D Hj

Yup, like Aliza said, there are many of us that have been having problems and a slow start this year.. odd.

We have only hatched 5 babies and only have 1 egg incubating.. this time last year we had 13 eggs incubating and 22 babies. We've had several infertile eggs, some females not taking to the male whatsoever, so females not laying anything at all, etc.. been a rough season for sure.

Like others have said, you don't always know why a baby develops fully but does not make it.. sorry that this one didn't survive, but perhaps it just wasn't strong or healthy enough. Congrats on the baby that hatched, hope the season picks up for everyone soon.
