recently found out that thus stuff (the brown bit) is coco fibre and was wondering if it would be any good to put in a moist hide to help shedding on toes. can anyone tell me if this is okay to use? uploadfromtaptalk1429832000749.png

What I see in the picture looks like long, dry fibers. There is a form of coco fiber that usually comes in a compress brick (but also comes in a bag) that looks more like dirt. This generally works in a hide if kept moist.

i actually replaced some of my dry hides with cylindrical pots similar to the one above. But what you want inside your moist hide is the loose, dirt kind of coco fiber

My geckos eat the coconut fiber from the hides a good bit (I'm not talking every day, I mean at least once a month one of them won't leave the wet hide and grab a mouthful with a passerby cricket). I check their tummies for dark areas often and make sure they don't get impacted from the stuff. I'd imagine the longer fibers would be more likely to be an issue if they were ingested.
