OK, from the box size thread I take it a 7x7x6 isn't good to use a heat pack in, am I correct? I have both 7x7x6 and 12x9x6 boxes , but would rather keep the cost down for 1 gecko.

Also, as the weather gets colder , It's time to order heat packs. Should I get the 40hr or is there a better one to use?

I recieved a package today in a 7x7x6 with a heatpack..... answers that question ;)

The heatpack has no writing, so I have no clue what hour rating it is though.

So.. We use 40 hour heat packs. Just in case it is going to get delayed... Its a good idea.

We currently use 2 different types of boxes. Our small box [good for one adult/sub adult leopard gecko in 8 oz cup/ 2 hatchlings/juveniles in 4 oz deli cups] has exterior dimensions of 8 1/2" x 6 1/2" x 5" and interior dimensions of 6" x 4" 1/2" x 3". Our large box [good for up to 5-6 adults depending on how we situate the cups in 6 oz cups/12 hatchlings in 4 oz cups] has exterior dimensions of 11" x 9" x 7 1/4" and interior dimensions of 8" x 6" x 4 1/4".

There are 60 hour heat packs and even longer.. But I personally think 40 hour packs are more than enough.

Get anything cool today? Hopefully not just an empty box ;)

I also like the smaller boxes (we use 8x8x8) due to shipping costs. We've had excellent success with this size, the heat pack can be wrapped with newspaper to take the edge off or we put a styro barrier with some perforations between the heat pack and the deli(s). We also always put two pencil size holes thru the box - geckos breathe air and the reaction that causes the heat also takes air. The styro will still do its' job.

I've been shipping single geckos in the 12x9x6 with 3/4" foam and a single heat pack. I sure would like to use the 7x7x6 though. I'm thinking that as long as I wrap the heat pack in newspaper everything will be OK.

Where do you put the heat pack in relation to the box, the styrofoam and deli cup? I haven't shipped yet but hope to as soon as someone both makes and keeps a commitment to buy.
