hi. i`m new to the forum & i was wondering if anyone keeps or has experience of keeping coleonyx elegans?. apart from leopard geckos & viper geckos i have 4 c. elegans. my adult pair have been together for breeding & to my horror i found the female had a large wound on her head today almost as if she`d been scalped. it must have been done by the male. she seems ok despite her ordeal. has anyone else had any experience of the male treating the female so roughly??.

Mostly, if not all male lizards would do that to a female. That's why supervision and a well-planned enclosure for multiple housing is a must. Geckos are solitary by nature so unless you keep them in a very huge tank then unpleasant encounters are unavoidable. How is she doing now?

I keep C. variegatus but C. elegans is next on my wish list. I haven't had any problems with wounds with my Coleonyx.
