Yep Tokay Keeper is right, hold the collared in your hand on his back/ tummy facing your face, take your thumb and index finger and gently press on each side of corners of jaw ( do not press hard and break the jaw) :0(
When he opens have your eye dropper with babyfood ready in other hand and squirt as far back in the throat as you can, do not get it on the "glotis" that hole on back of tongue, you will asperate him. It will all feel awkward for awhile, but you will become an expert in feeding sick lizards real quick lol.

As far as how much baby food, just small amounts, make sure he gets hydrated a couple days first. small aounts of water every few hours. start with maybe 1/2 teaspoonful add to it if he takes it well. small amounts frequently is best.

Hopefully he will perk up for you :0)

I'm always afraid of aspirating when using a dropper on delicate desert species, having only done it a couple times. If only all lizards were as easy as gex, who will lick when something is dotted on their little lizard lips. Collareds are so beautiful, maybe after my Phrynosoma platyrhinos lives his life out, a special one will appear.

How, it's such a gorgeous reptile. It's sad that it's so emaciated. But, hopefully with your hard work and determination, you'll be able to rehabilitate the little guy.

WTF? They're nowhere near being the same species. And, if I'm not mistaken, don't salamanders require a wet habitat? That's just crazy, and sickening. I'm glad you got this little guy, Dennis. I wish you all the best with it... and I hope he pulls through. Good on you, brotha.

Hi :0) glad he's eating supers. Some prefer them. Let him eat what he wants. How big are your crickets? Adult? He may like big stuff. Anyway supers are fine if thats what he wants.

He is a C. bicinctores / desert mohave He will have a bannish tan head, get a blackish blue dewlap under his chin and blackish spots on his unserside(thigh area. Just look up desert mohave/ C. bicinctores

Doing a good Job :main_thumbsup:

Heres some collared pics :0)

Eve
would this guy be a yellow head? or what?

will his color improve when he gets more healthy?

Both Eve and myself said C. bicinctores, this is based upon his overall coloration (even in his current emaciated state) and throat and belly patternings.

Here's some info (http://www.reptilesofaz.org/Lizards-Subpages/h-c-bicinctores.html). They come from some fairly arid regions, particularly in the southern portion of their range. I've actually caught them in Maricopa and La Paz counties in Arizona. And another site (William Wells' Desert Reptiles & Landscapes: C. bicinctores page - http://www.desertreptiles.net/bicinctoreshome1.htm). Will is a collared lizard nut and gets some awesome photos of them.
