Hi guys. I just picked up these geckos from a private breeded and I'm confused about the eclipse gene. what he told me was that the geckos are tremper snow eclipse, tremper eclipse, super snow tremper. But none have red eyes. They are all black. I'll get some picks up by tomorrow to try and help identify. Any help would be great. Thanks.

They probably just appear black. Female Trempers tend to have very dark eyes so solid Ruby eyes tend so look solid black. Males tend to have lighter Ruby eyes because they were incubated at higher temperatures.

I checked today good and the tremper snows have solid black eyes and I think the tremper super snow blizzard eclipse is not a tremper but just ssb. Eclipse. Is that possible for a tremper snow to be eclipse with black eyes?

No, usually Trenper combined with Eclipse wil have solid Ruby eyes or Snake eyes.

It should be pretty easy to tell if they are visually albinos without even taking the eyes into consideration. Can you post pictures of them?

Ya the breeder I got her from said she is a tremper snow eclipse. But I still can't understand the black eyes? Why would she have black eyes?

Ya she's supposed to be a tremper snow eclipse but I thought her eyes should be red not black. So I don't know what to call her. What would you guys call her?

The eyes aren't black. They're actually a very deep red, most likely because she was incubated at a lower temperature (80-83, she was probably temp-sexed female). When you incubate at lower temperatures, the colour of the animal will usually be darker and deeper, the eyes too.

She looks to be what she was sold to you as.

Since RAPTORs are supposed to be Patternless Stripes (no pattern) and yours has a typical Mack Snow pattern Tremper Snow Eclipse would be the most accurate description.

Thanks guys for all your comments. But I'm still stuck on her eyes looking black not red. I'm going to try and take a better pic right now and post a new one for you guys.

No luck with my camera phone its only 3.2 mega pixels. I'll have to try a real camera and when I do I'll post some new pics. Or maybe have to wait till she gets alittle older.

I promise that those eyes really are dark red and just appear black. The pictures you posted are definitely Albino so it would be impossible to have black eyes. They may look black but they are not.

+1 By definition albinos do not produce melanin (black pigment), so it is simply not possible for an albino eclipse to have black eyes. Very dense deposits of other pigments may appear black like your gecko's eyes or the dark markings on my hatchling Abyssinians but they are not true black.

Thanks guys for your advice. I just wanted to be sure because I have never personal seen one with the eyes so dark. Do you think they will ever lighten up or are they going to stay the same?
