well ive done my research and i read that adult geckos should eat 3-4 crickets and 2-3 mealworms every other day, i also read that they should eat 3-4 crickets everyday and leave the worms in the dish and they might eat them as they like or i could feed them 6-7 mealworms aday instead of crickets and thats where i go confusd, also how do i know whne they are adults i know they are bigger but how big 5+ inches????

and also how often should i dust the crickest the instructions say 12 crickets a week and many places recomend any where between 2-4 days per week, and if i leave the calcium in a container in the tank it has to be calcium with out d3, bu if i only found calcium ith d3 should i still leabe it inthere?????????

thanks once again for helpin this newbe!!!!!!

Not every gecko needs to eat on that specific of a schedule. Mine dont.
You will need to leave a small dish in the enclosure all the time, without d3.
You can dust the crickets periodically with calcium containing d3.

That sounds great. One at a time is good because its always a good idea to remove any uneaten crickets, as they can become annoying and bite your gecko if they get hungy.
I dont leave mealworms in a dish because I'm not a fan of them, but many people do. As long as your gecko isnt obese, that should be fine.

Here is what I used to do and do for my one gecko now. Keep calcium with D3 (D3 is a vitamin that helps aid in the absorbtion of calcium, it is needed in nocturnal animals that can't synthesize it in your house unless they are exposed to the sun daily) in a small bottle cap or dish in the cage at all times. Then alternate dusting with a multivitamin and regular calcium on your crickets, mealworms, or super worms. I didn't feed crickets often because they were a pain. I feed superworms to adults and mealies and giant mealies to younger geckos. By feeding worms, you can keep a constant supply in the food dish and the geckos will eat when they are hungry.

Ohhh ok, I was told to keep the one without d3 in the tank at all times and dust Crickets and or mealworms twice a week with the one that has d3, so thats where it gets really confusing

Our about 8 month old leopard gecko seems to eat a lot. He'll eat 12 small crickets easily. Tonight we fed him 5 mealworms. He seems to want to eat every day. Is this too much? Also are we not supposed to give calcium with d3 every day? What if we use repashy calcium plus (I have some coming to me)? How often do we give him repashy?

Leopard geckos can overdose from too much D3, this is why it is advised to NOT keep it in the tank. They may help themselves to too much.
Dusting crickets with the d3 gives you a clear idea about how much theyve ingested

I've never had a problem with the D3 but I've been out of the loop for a few years so it could have changed. The gecko is only going to eat as much Calcium as it needs that you leave in the tank.

Also, as far as young leos eating, they will eat until they are full so keep feeding 'em and they will grow nicely for you.

i did not mean to thank you..
but i have NEVER seen any proof of this..

people have been spreading this rumor for years..

please give proof of a gecko over dosing on D3

I use all d3 all the time and i have NEVER had a problem

So you shouldn't dust crickets with calcium+d3 every day? How many times a week? Also, what if you are using repashy calcium plus (I ordered some, but don't have it yet - am going to switch)?

Currently I don't have plain calcium. Should I get that if we use repashy?
