Confused about temps?!?

Ok, I've done lots of reading but am still left slightly unsure as to the best setup. I have searched, but if I have missed an obvious post covering this please excuse me!

Most people tend to suggest a temperature between 85-90f is required for the "hot" side of the vivarium/tank, and the gradient should decrease to about room temp across the Vivarium/tank.

I am using a heat mat at the moment. I am also using a daylight bulb during the day (I know it is not necessary!) & a moonlight bulb at night (again, not necessary but he/she is nocturnal and we wouldn't see him otherwise!).

My question:

Is the temp of 85-90f constant, i.e day & night at the "hot" end of the Vivarium/tank or should the temp drop at night? (The ambient (air temp) drops when the daylight bulb goes off.)

Thanks in advance...

At night the temps can drop, I would just leave the heat mat on at night and turn the lights off. Belly heat is best for heating leos, so I would always leave the heat mat on. Hope that helps :)

Warm temp range is more like 88-92*F...and it is okay to leave the temp the same day and night. My leos poop during the night so I leave the temps the same day and night. The belly heat helps them poop... <sorry> I have also heard that the red lights are better for night viewing as the blue lights can be seen by leos and it bothers some.

Good question; thanks for asking it!
