I'm new to geckos, and had some questions about the calcium powder. I bought Repto Cal, it says its for all reptiles and includes calcium and D3. I dust my feeders with this correct?

and my other questions are, do i need any other stuff to dust with? or is this Repto Cal okay? And can i put a dish of this in the tank with the gecko even thought it has D3 in it? or do i need to buy just calcium, and where can i find that at?

thanks for being patient with me!

You should get a multivitamin to dust with 1-2 times a week too. You will get varying opinions on the D3 issue, I did when I got my first gecko. Some people just use plain calcium for dusting and the dish and only use the D3 kind for dusting once a week or so, like they do with the multivitamin. Me personally, I took the advice of an experienced vet tech on the forums who told me it was okay to use the Ca + D3 for every feeding and also use it in the dish (she'd been doing it for years with no problems). Some people will probably disagree but everybody supplements their own way. You can use the Ca+D3 every time you feed or once a week, as long as they're getting calcium, it's up to you. You should be able to find the plain calcium and multivitamins around the same place you found the Ca+D3. Hope that helped, I know it can be a little confusing. :)

as far as i understand from your schedule, you dust with calcium + D3 every feeding, so then when should they get the multivitamin?

I usually alternate dustings...One day vitamin, the next is calcium...I never let an insect go undusted. ;)

I use Repashy Calcium ICB on ALL insects whenever I feed them.
I use rept-cal (or whatever it's called) withOUT D3 in it in a cap in their enclosure.

So far on this method we've gotten 11 healthy hatchlings (and one egg that should be hatching any time) and females that have GAINED weight after laying clutches instead of losing weight.
They LOVELOVELOVE the taste of the stuff.
