So does anyone actually know who hatched the "tremper" albino?

Imagine... we have been fighting over the "right" to name a gecko for 10 years now... :main_rolleyes:

Ron did, because Rosy died and Bubba re-founded the line under Ron's care. If it's still posted, check out the wording of the ad on kingsnake.com.

From your first post, you state the albino died in Ron's care and he bred the het sibling to avoid having the line die out. So Ron didn't hatch the first, Ron bought the first and it died in his care. Do we credit him or the california breeder?

Sorry to go a bit off topic, but I believe the "leusistic" fat-tails were actually amels. I remember there being confusion on what to call them when they first started appearing.

If I buy the first genetic pied leopard gecko from a neighbor and market it, I assure you that all rights of ownership are transferred to me with the purchase. Therefore your rediculous questions as to who gets credit go out the door.

Do you think the guy who made the foreman grill and sold the patent was named george foreman:main_laugh:

Ron said in an old Reptiles article that he wrote about leopard geckos, that someone in california hatched the first albino leopard gecko. Ive wondered about that since reading it and now I get the whole picture. Since he was the first breeder to sell albinos to the public, his name got attached to the gene once another albino gene was discovered.

I dont think it is a good idea to change something that is so deeply ingraved into the hoddy. I think it is a good idea to know that the bell line is from FL, and the tremper line was brought to the public from a breeder who lives in TX, and the fact that the rainwater line is also called LV because of a bad thing that happened. History is good to know, but changing something like this would be too hard.

I think that people knowing the history gives the credit for the discovery, but the name Tremper has become a term in this hobby for the first albino gene.

hey, if it would have made me capable of ripping off my shirt like Hulk and attracting the women I would have bought 100. I'd need the 99 extras from all the continued use.

And what the h***, I'm co-hijacking my own thread.

Can we edit the poll to include an option for "I want a new grill"
I haven't voted yet and would really like to.

Looks like the votes are in on this one. Nevertheless, I spoke to Bubba today, and he thinks the line should be called "Bubba Albinos"
:D
