Considering bigger tank: welcome suggestions

Hi there, I have a rescued 3 year old female leopard gecko named Lizzie. It was a quick turnaround getting her so I bought a 20 gallon starter kit from Petco. I have since made it bioactive (another starter kit from BioDude) and added succulents, caves, sticks for climbing. She is skittish and I believe mishandled in the past so I’m taking it slow with her (although she has started to come out to say hello and has come on my hand a few times).

I’ve since learned that a 20 gallon tank is the minimum for an adult gecko and that they feel safer when it is not all glass. I’d like my home to be her forever home so considering an ‘upgrade.’ What size are your tanks for an adult leopard and are there any companies you’d recommend? Any YouTubers/websites you recommend as well?

Thank you

Congrats on your new gecko. I keep most of my leopard geckos in 20 gallon long enclosures, but I do have one in a 40 gallon (36"x18"). One way to compromise is to add a second level (photo below). This adds another 144sq.in. to an enclosure. As you can see, putting a Gladware hide near it is usually enough to allow the gecko to climb up. The gecko in the picture is sitting on the hide and can climb up there. I use 2 tiles because I have a very small heat mat (sold as a mat for hermit crabs for a 5 gallon enclosure) between the upstairs tiles. I got the PVC pieces from Home Depot. If you're thinking of getting a new enclosure anyway, get something that's front-opening (the one in the picture has a sliding glass front).
