My gecko has a lump at the base of his tail . And his tail is depleted I was wondering if this is a sign of constipation ? There is not much feces in his tank but he is eating. I have tried soaking him in warm water . Is there anything else I could try before taking him to a vet ?

Usually when a gecko is constipated its belly is swollen. The warm water soaks are a good idea. How long has it been? Sometimes they just hold on for a long time and then let loose. If nothing happens within the next few days and you feel the gecko is continuing to lose weight, a vet visit would be in order.

Hi Aliza , no his belly is not swollen but he's had a lump at the base of his tail for a couple of days now. Is that normal if they have not gone for awhile ? I have had him for two years and never had a problem .

Thanks

He could have an infection, but I don't think a lump at the base of the tail is impaction (though I'm not a vet, so I can't be sure).

If you have a good experience with your reptile vet, please do pass on a referral to others in your area :) You're right that it's hard to find them in some areas, or even one that has a good reputation.
